Jordan’s Early Struggles and Personal Transformation
Jordan Welch's entrepreneurial journey began not with early success but with personal struggle. Raised by a single mother earning less than $20,000 a year, Jordan faced financial hardships from a young age. His father wasn’t present, leaving his mother to raise him and his sister alone. Although they received government assistance to buy their first home, financial difficulties soon forced them to lose it, and Jordan had to move in with his stepfather in a different city.
Losing their House
At just nine years old, Jordan faced emotional challenges from being separated from his mother, but he believes this experience fueled his drive to succeed. The instability he experienced sparked a desire to earn money and create a better life, even if he didn’t fully grasp his ambition at the time. A turning point came when his stepfather gifted him a laptop, a gesture that opened the door to his future success.

Finding Inspiration in YouTube and Early Entrepreneurial Ventures
With that laptop, Jordan became captivated by YouTube, spending hours watching and admiring creators. His fascination led him to make videos with friends—exploring basketball, comedy skits, and skateboarding. Though it began as a hobby, these content creation skills laid the groundwork for his first experience earning money online.
Video editing on his Laptop
At the age of 14, Jordan started making $100 a week editing Call of Duty trick shot videos, marking his introduction to online income. Though challenging, it ignited his passion and showed him the endless possibilities of making money online without a traditional job. This early success fueled his ambition, marking the start of a journey filled with both failures and triumphs.
Early Failures and Learning from Mistakes
During high school, Jordan embarked on multiple business ventures, many of which failed. His first venture, a clothing brand called Retrospect Clothing, showed promise as he created designs and sold them to friends and family, but the business didn’t scale. He then moved on to reselling sneakers, finding more success and making his first $1,000 by flipping popular brands.
At 16, Jordan took a bigger risk by organizing a Sneaker Convention in his hometown. He rented the largest convention center in Fort Myers and marketed the event. Although 200 attendees came, the event barely broke even. Feeling defeated, Jordan briefly considered giving up on entrepreneurship. However, these early failures became valuable learning experiences that shaped his future.
A Turning Point: Drop Shipping and Early Success
Jordan's major turning point came at 18 while attending college. Although he knew college wasn’t the right path, he followed the conventional route due to limited options. Living off food stamps and $25,000 in student loans, his pivotal moment arrived when he received a $2,000 refund check from his loans. While others spent theirs on clothes or vacations, Jordan decided to invest it in his first real business.
After countless nights researching ways to make money online, he stumbled upon drop shipping. In May 2017, he launched his first Facebook ad for a drop shipping store. The next day, he received his first sale on Shopify, an experience that filled him with excitement and confidence. Although his early wins were small, he was able to build enough momentum to keep pushing forward. Despite a few ups and downs, Jordan's persistence paid off when, by August, he made his first $1,000 profit week. This success ignited a fire in him that propelled his business to new heights.
Scaling to Success: Overcoming Setbacks and Reaching New Heights
Jordan’s business grew quickly after his initial success, but his entrepreneurial journey faced significant challenges. In November 2017, he had his first $100,000 month and nearly $100,000 in savings by the year’s end. Feeling unstoppable, he made the bold choice to move to Los Angeles, a decision he now calls one of his biggest mistakes. In LA, he began living beyond his means, leasing a luxury apartment, buying an expensive car, and indulging in a lavish lifestyle. By the end of 2018, his savings had dwindled to $30,000, with $10,000 in monthly expenses, pushing him to the brink of financial collapse.
To recover, Jordan launched Viral Vault, a product research software for Shopify stores. Though promising, a disagreement with his business partner left him without access to the company’s funds. With no money and mounting expenses, Jordan fell into a deep depression. At his lowest, he contacted a suicide prevention hotline and realized he needed drastic change. He moved back to his mother’s house, where the support of family and friends marked the start of his personal and professional comeback.
Building Back Stronger: A Renewed Focus on Success
After returning to his roots, Jordan focused on rebuilding both his life and business. He launched another drop shipping store, and this time, success came quickly—within the first 20 days, he scaled to $10,000 in profit. By the end of 2020, his business was generating over $100,000 a month, and he had documented his journey on YouTube, building a loyal following. In 2021, Jordan achieved his first multi-million dollar year, with over $1 million in sales.
This success gave him financial freedom, allowing him to support those who had helped him along the way. He bought his mother her dream truck, took his family on a vacation to Jamaica, and began investing in a portfolio to secure his financial future. Jordan’s ability to learn from his mistakes and rebuild stronger than before is a testament to his resilience and dedication to achieving his dreams.
Lessons for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Jordan’s journey from living off food stamps to generating over $6 million offers valuable lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs. First, resilience is crucial. His ability to bounce back from failures and keep pushing forward was key to his success. Second, focus is essential. Early on, Jordan spread himself too thin with multiple ventures, but once he concentrated on one—drop shipping—his success scaled much faster.
Lastly, his story highlights the importance of personal growth and a supportive network. Returning home allowed him to shed bad habits and refocus on what mattered. Jordan’s experience is a powerful reminder that success stems from a mix of hard work, persistence, and learning from both wins and setbacks.
Jordan’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and personal transformation. From facing financial instability and self-doubt to rebuilding his life and achieving success, his story underscores the importance of learning from setbacks and staying committed to personal growth. Ultimately, Jordan’s success is not just measured by financial achievements but by his ability to overcome challenges and create a fulfilling life for himself and his loved ones.
